Oinomikado Fuyutada (大炊御門冬忠)

Fuyutada OINOMIKADO (大炊御門 冬忠, 1218 - October 23, 1268) was a Kugyo (high court noble) in the middle of Kamakura period. He worked for the five Imperial Courts from Emperor Gohorikawa (the eighty-sixth) to Emperor Kameyama (the ninetieth), and ended up promoting to Shosanmi Naidaijin (Senior Third Rank, Minister of the Interior) in official court ranks. His father was Naidaijin (Minister of the Interior) Ietsugu OINOMIKADO. His mother was the daughter of FUJIWARA no Motomune. His wives were the daughter of FUJIWARA no Motomune and the daughter of Sukesue NIJO. He had the son named Nobutsugu OINOMIKADO who was appointed as Daijo-daijin (Grand Minister).

In 1231, he was raised to the peerage for the first time. He was appointed successively to Jiju (Chamberlain), Suo no suke (Assistant Governor of Suo Province), Sakone no shosho (Minor Captain of the Left Division of Inner Palace Guards), and Sakone no chujo (Middle Captain of the Left Division of Inner Palace Guards), and in 1239, he was promoted to Jusanmi (Junior Third Rank) to rank with a Kugyo (high court noble). After that, he also held successively the positions of Gon Chunagon (Provisional Vice-Councilor of State) and Gon Dainagon (Provisional Chief Councilor of State), and in 1261, he was appointed as Dainagon (Chief Councilor of State) and Ukone no daisho (Major Captain of the Right Division of Inner Palace Guards). Moreover, he was promoted to Sakone no daisho (Major Captain of the Left Division of Inner Palace Guards) the next year. Between 1265 and 1267, he became Naidaijin (Minister of the Interior). But in 1268, he entered into priesthood because he caught tumor and dysentery, and after that, he was called Koryuji Nyudo (monk). In the same year, he passed away. He was 51 years old when he died.
